Perhaps more than all other element, the 13th element on the periodic table is very special.Although once highly valued as a "precious metal," the price of a kilogram of this element today is considerably less than one's morning cup of gourmet coffee...so r we gonna stop d use of aluminium

y it(13) s considered dark(bad) is:
Thirteen became unlucky around the Middle Ages. The probable cause being that Judas, the betrayer of Jesus, was the 13th apostle at the Last Supper. It is often pointed out that the Jews murmured 13 times against God in the exodus from Egypt, that the thirteenth psalm concerns wickedness and corruption, that the circumcision of Israel occurred in the thirteenth year.

Hai Badre, I appreciate you taking time to answer my questions ( If i can call them that :-) !! )

Anyway, Well about the pay slip thing , are you trying to tell me that there is a higher amount of risk involved in flying a plane than that involved with driving the train ?

Risk is defined as an exposure to a loss or damage.. and in this case , risk is involved with the human life! A man flying in a plane and a local boarding a train are both risking their lives in the hands of the pilot/driver. So minus the technology , at the end of the day its life what we are dealing with.. and i don't think you can really put a tag on that irrespective of the fact that its a flight journey or a trains..Can you ?

That is my question.. :-)

ya, i accept that A man flying in a plane and a local boarding a train are both risking their lives in the hands of the pilot/driver. But u cant compare to the amount of risk in both. i wud say, the risk is less in terms of a person travelling in a airplane. airplanes are made in "fail safe"* methods whereas in trains it is "safe life"** method. to give you an idea, each and every plane is hand crafted.
The flight accidents are mostly due to the ignorance of the pilot and seldom its a system fault. you know wat, even if 3 of the 4 engines fail, the flight can be landed very safely. There can be no mass production of aeroplanes, and the cost and time involved in building one is so enormous. it takes a min of 3-4 yrs to build a single airplane, get it passed thru testing phase and to get approval for its usage. The board tests individual aircrafts for over 8 months. Its a factor of time, money, perfection that is under risk of pilot's hand.

*fail safe method-even if thousand systems fail, other systems take care of the operations of the failed systems.
**safe life method-if the system fails, it only needs to e replaced and other systems wont support it.

Anyway watever i said is just my point of view and not the truth.

Alright, that makes sense.. so may be the answer should have been
" Pay slip proportional to technology and finance involved" ... :-)
